Born in 1997, Afifa Bari is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary artist. She graduated from York University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She primarily works in oil paint to create large-scale paintings discussing the human condition to constantly consume in a widely capitalistic society. She discusses fast fashion trends and encourages ethical fashion through her art practice. She also works with recycled textiles to create installations discussing the last stage of the fashion cycle, discarding. She is currently an ambassador of two non-profit organizations that promote sustainable practices in the fashion industry - Remake and Fashion takes Action.
